Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about eSIM technology and SkyLimit
Getting Started
An eSIM (embedded SIM) is a digital SIM that allows you to activate a cellular plan without needing a physical SIM card. It's built directly into your phone and can be programmed with different carrier information. This means you can switch carriers or add a travel plan without swapping physical SIM cards.
Most modern smartphones support eSIM. Here's a quick way to check:
- iPhone: Go to Settings → Cellular → Add Cellular Plan. If you see this option, your iPhone supports eSIM.
- Android: Go to Settings → Network & Internet → SIMs → Add eSIM. If available, your device is compatible.
Check our compatibility page for a full list of supported devices.
Yes, your phone must be carrier-unlocked to use a SkyLimit eSIM. If your phone is locked to a specific carrier, contact them to request an unlock before purchasing an eSIM.

After purchase, you'll receive an email with a QR code. Here's how to install:
- Make sure you're connected to WiFi
- Open your phone's camera and scan the QR code
- Follow the on-screen prompts to add the cellular plan
- Label your eSIM (e.g., "Travel" or "SkyLimit")
- The eSIM is now installed and ready to use!
Yes! We recommend installing your eSIM before you leave while you have a stable WiFi connection. Your data plan won't start until you activate it or connect to a network in your destination country.
Absolutely! Most eSIM-compatible phones support Dual SIM, meaning you can keep your regular SIM active for calls and texts while using the eSIM for data. This is perfect for travelers who want to stay reachable on their home number.
Data & Usage
Your data plan validity period begins when you first connect to a network in your destination country. For example, if you buy a 30-day plan and activate it on June 1st, it will be valid until July 1st.
Yes! All SkyLimit eSIM plans include hotspot/tethering capability. You can share your data connection with other devices like laptops or tablets.
When your data runs out, you can easily top up by purchasing additional data through your SkyLimit account. You can also purchase a new eSIM plan if needed. We'll send you a notification when you're running low on data.
Payment & Refunds
